About Alexander Qi

Expertise and Credibility

Alexander Qi (漆圣颐) is a professional 3p player.  He started learning Go at 8 years old and became professional at 14, the youngest in North American history. He was represented North American in 6 major international tournaments, including the Ing Cup, Chunlan Cup, Quzhou Lanke Cup, MLily World Go Open. In 2025, he became the first American World Champion by winning the World Youth Go Champions.

Alexander's approach to teaching is built on the intersection of elite strategic thinking and real competitive experience. With over 3 years of teaching experience, he trains students to think several moves ahead—breaking complex problems into structured, solvable decisions. Each student receives individualized guidance shaped by Alexander’s experience competing at the highest international level.

More Than Just a Competitor

Alexander Qi is a high school senior at Watchung Hills Regional High School in New Jersey. Beyond Go, he enjoys mathematics, finance and playing the clarinet.
